A Note From Mom4Freedom About ObamaCare

It’s been over 100 days since ObamaCare became law of the land.  ObamaCare is the largest, most intrusive, freedom-choking legislation our government has ever passed.  It is THE shoe-in for a Marxist agenda to root within our nation and culture.

While it will eventually create an overwhelming citizen dependence upon the state, it will simultaneously destroy the most thriving, prosperous, pro-health, and pro-life health care market that has existed in human history.  If allowed to remain law, it will be the largest blow ever taken to our nation’s prosperity, freedom, and quality of life.  It is Marxism wrapped in a package of false hope.

An informed citizenry is equipped to act and take ownership of that which is ours.  Because of this, in addition to blogging about the health care battle, I will continue to send health care updates and alerts to you as appropriate.  At the national level, we have leaders in Congress who are taking on the charge to repeal ObamaCare.  At the state level, we have attorneys general who are joining forces in a lawsuit against the federal government based on the unconstitutional aspects of ObamaCare.  Ordinary citizens all across the nation are taking action to push back against ObamaCare.

In summary, the majority of Americans are opposed to ObamaCare and are taking steps to push it back.  I intend to assist in this effort in every way I can by keeping ordinary Americans informed.  If you would like to receive updates from me, go directly to my Alerts tab and sign up to receive updates directly from me.  Go here now to sign up:  http://www.mom4freedom.com/?page_id=1757

Colorado Ballot Initiative Law Confuses and Contradicts

There is a critical ballot initiative petition being circulated for signatures in Colorado.  It’s the “Right to Health Care Choice” written by Jon Caldara.  If successfully placed on the November ballot, Colorado voters will have the unique opportunity to push back against ObamaCare’s unprecedented and burdensome individual insurance mandate.  To secure its place on the November ballot, 120,000 signatures (of which 76,407 valid signatures are required) must be collected by Colorado registered voters and submitted to the state by July 12, 2010…. or, is it August 2, 2010?

Hmmm.  There seems to be some confusion in the Colorado law regarding the actual deadline for submitting ballot initiative petition signatures.   Leslie Graves outlines this contradiction well in her Ballot Pedia article “Uncertainty Clouds Colorado’s 2010 Signature Deadline.”

The Colorado Constitution states that signatures must be submitted at least three months before the election.  That puts the deadline at August 2, 2010.

The Colorado State Legislature House Bill 1326 (2009) states that signatures must be submitted no later than three months AND three weeks before the election.  That puts the deadline at July 12, 2010.

Jon Caldara has received a letter from the Secretary of State stating that the submission deadline is August 2, essentially supporting the Constitutional requirement. But, as Graves points out in her article, the contradiction between the Constitution, HB 1326, and the Secretary of State’s letter could seriously complicate the outcome of this initiative.

The fact that such a critical deadline is ambiguous or in question is unacceptable.  Read more about HB 1326 and determine if the bill’s sponsors had your best interests in mind.  And yes, the sponsors of the bill are listed.  Take note and take elective action to prevent this type of no-citizen-can-win nonsense from becoming contradictory law ever again.

If the contradiction and confusion in the initiative process prevents Colorado citizens from putting the “Right to Health Care Choice” initiative on the November ballot, or if it in any way delegitimizes the signatures collected, then freedom will have been dealt another huge slam.

Push Back Against ObamaCare in Colorado this Weekend

Territory Days is this weekend in Colorado Springs May 29th – 31st .  Thousands of people will be there who can sign the “Right to Health Care Choice” ballot initiative, but most don’t know about it. They will neither know nor sign unless we’re there to tell them.  I’m looking for at least 10 volunteers to help circulate petitions and collect 2500 signatures from Colorado registered voters at this huge event.  Commit as little as a half hour or as long as half a day.

Can’t make it to Territory Days?  No problem, there are plenty of other opportunities to help, even if you’re not in Colorado Springs.  Get a petition and gather signatures from friends, family, work or church associates, and neighbors.   Time is of the essence, we need all 120,000 signatures by July 1, 2010.  This is an effort to protect freedom that requires ordinary citizens to act.  It’s easy to do.  Get involved now.

If you can help at Territory Days, look for me or other volunteers who can assist you at The Constitutionalist Today newspaper booth #73 in Bancroft Park.  Or, email me before Saturday to coordinate getting your petition.

More information on the “Right to Health Care Choice” ballot initiative is at the end of this post.

Thanks,

Michelle

The “Right to Health Care Choice” Ballot Initiative

Jon Caldara, President of The Independence Institute based out of Golden, Colorado, has written an initiative for the November 2010 ballot titled “Right to Health Care Choice.” If we the people take ownership of this, successfully put it on the ballot and pass it, we will amend the Colorado Constitution and empower Colorado to exercise its 10th Amendment rights specifically against the ObamaCare mandate.  In part, the amendment states:

“All persons shall have the right of health care choice. No statute, regulation, resolution or policy adopted or enforced by the State of Colorado, its departments and agencies independently or at the instance of the United States shall require any person to participate in any public or private health benefit plan or system, deny, restrict or penalize the right of any person to make or receive direct payments for lawful health benefit services, nor deny, restrict or penalize the right of any person to purchase and use health insurance products or other health benefit plans or systems legal for sale in any other state where such plans or systems are duly licensed or otherwise qualified and in good standing in the provider’s home state.”

This amendment would free Colorado citizens from ObamaCare’s choking individual mandate effects and make Colorado a sanctuary state for quality health care. It allows Coloradans to opt out of the oppressive health insurance mandates contained within ObamaCare, because we would not be forced to participate in any health insurance plan, nor would we be penalized for paying cash for health care.

What You Must Do Now

Right now both petition circulators and donations are urgently needed to help gather 120,000 signatures by July 1, 2010.  That’s just over 30 days away.  Join me and help collect these signatures so that in November we can vote to protect Colorado’s freedom.

To become a circulator, contact The Independence Institute today, and they will get forms and instructions to you.  If you are in the Pikes Peak region and want a petition right away, I have some, contact me at Mom4Freedom@ymail.com.

To donate to the ballot initiative campaign (and any amount helps), go to The Independence Institute donation page here

We Can Make Colorado a Health Care Sanctuary

Together, we can make Colorado a health care sanctuary.  But it requires your involvement today.

At this critical juncture in history, freedom is crying out and needs a tenacious defense. It’s up to you and me to take ownership of our state and save freedom. We can protect her if we act with determination now. Your personal involvement will ensure that Colorado remains a leading voice for freedom and a prosperous, free-market health care state.

We have a very short window of opportunity to keep Colorado free from the choking effects of ObamaCare.

 Let’s make it happen.

My Mother’s Day Inspiration – a Man?

This article also appears in the May 2010 print edition of  The Constitutionalist Today

May is the month for Mother’s Day, a day we set aside to appreciate and honor the most important job in the world.  As an American mother who values faith, family, and freedom, inspiration for my maternal role may be considered unusual to some. It comes not from a woman, but a man:  it’s our nation’s first President George Washington.

Two years ago while I was reading the life story of George Washington to my children, I realized how little I knew about this man.  Sure, from my own schooling I already knew the basic facts: he was our first President, he led the charge against the British in the Revolutionary War, and he married Martha Washington.

But the revelation that sparked my personal conviction and inspired me as a mother was his person. He was a true leader, a man among men in his time. He was humble both before God and his fellow men.  He was a brave military man, unafraid to risk his own life in battle and engage the mightiest power in the world.

He inspired a rag-tag collection of troops to defeat the strongest army of the time. He modeled and expected righteous behavior from his troops by forbidding profanity, swearing, and drunkenness. He even required their attendance at regular Divine services. He inspired them to follow him in the most deplorable circumstances, against all odds.

Through protection that could have only been granted by God, he was bulletproof in combat.  He knew his own human wisdom bank fell short and daily sought guidance and direction from the Almighty. He loved freedom and served his fellow man faithfully to attain that freedom.  He was respected by both friend and foe, and loyal to those he loved.

Simply put:  Washington was a leader like no other.  Not only a man among men of his time, but among our time. Once you know him, his leadership and legacy continue to influence.

I wondered… where are the George Washingtons of our day? We are a nation crying out for leadership of his kind. It occurred to me that if we had more leaders like him today, freedom might not be teetering on the edge of doom. If we’re going to return to the founding principles that birthed freedom, we need men and women who will lead like Washington, and who share his strength of character.

But where do such leaders come from?  And what does George Washington have to do with Mother’s Day? Leadership starts in the home, and mothers have it within our scope to cultivate those leaders within our children. Prior to her death and his inauguration, Washington’s mother told him, “But go George, fulfill the high destinies which Heaven appears to have intended for you;  go, my son, and may that Heaven’s and a mother’s blessing be with you always.”

This Mother’s Day I challenge all mothers who love freedom to ponder your roles. We have it within us the ability to raise our children to be leaders and affect our nation’s destiny, just as Washington’s mother did. Set a vision for your children, one to which they can aspire.  Show them authentic leadership examples they can follow, like Washington.

Being a leader doesn’t necessarily mean becoming a future US president.  It means leading with principle, courage, and conviction in whatever sphere of influence God gives.  Opportunities to lead are present every day: amongst peers, friends, family, church, politics, and more. Whatever it is, set your children’s minds to lead based on truth, principle, and conviction.  When you do this, you will also set the example for those around you. And you just might influence another George Washington to rise to the occasion.

Stop the Obamacare Choke in Colorado

This article also appears in the May 2010 print edition of  The Constitutionalist Today

We fought the good fight. We gave it all we had. And in the end, the nightmare that is ObamaCare became reality as President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010. But take heart. We can stop the ObamaCare choke in Colorado.

This battle has never been about health care. It’s ultimately about forcing a Marxist agenda designed to irreversibly grant complete citizen control to the federal government. It’s about reversing the proper role of state and citizen to one of complete citizen dependence on the nanny state.  It’s designed to choke your freedoms and crush individual rights.

Is this the end of the battle?  No way. Not as long as that eternal spark of freedom burns in our hearts. We can never let anyone or anything extinguish that flame. Colorado is poised to push back against ObamaCare from a couple of angles:  a federal lawsuit and a ballot initiative, each expanded below. In the short term, both require us to stay vigilant and focused through November.

The Tenth Amendment

To understand this stage in the battle for freedom from ObamaCare, familiarize yourself with the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It reads:  “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Basically, the 10th Amendment protects individual states’ rights from unconstitutional federal laws and regulations. In a time when lawmakers continue to relentlessly pass laws increasing the role of government in our lives, the 10th Amendment is a weapon we must wield now to protect freedom.

Attorney General Suthers Files Lawsuit

As of this writing, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers has joined over a dozen other state attorneys general and filed a lawsuit against the federal government challenging the health care mandate. From AG Suthers’ website www.coloradoattorneygeneral.gov, here is the basis for the lawsuit:

“The individual mandate to purchase insurance or suffer economic sanction violates constitutional principles and lacks constitutional authority. The Constitution … does not give the Congress the power to compel a citizen … to purchase a product or service and thereby become subject to congressional regulation. Such an expansion of the current understanding of the Commerce Clause would leave no private sphere of individual commercial decision making beyond the reach of the federal government. It would render the 10th Amendment meaningless. The lawsuit also will challenge the constitutionality of the penalties included in the legislation for individuals that decide to forgo purchasing health insurance.”

AG Suthers must be applauded and supported in this critical action. More importantly, he is up for re-election this November. Organized liberal activist groups are already mobilized and preparing to upset the election in favor of his opponent. If his liberal opponent wins, our state will be withdrawn from the lawsuit. If freedom is going to win, Suthers must win in November. He needs the support and vote of every Colorado citizen who loves freedom.

Colorado Right to Health Care Choice Ballot Initiative

Jon Caldara, President of the Independence Institute based out of Golden, Colorado, has written an initiative for the November 2010 ballot titled “Right to Health Care Choice.” If we the people take ownership of this, successfully put it on the ballot and pass it, we will amend the Colorado Constitution and empower Colorado to exercise its 10th Amendment rights specifically against ObamaCare.

This amendment would free Colorado citizens from ObamaCare’s choking effects and make Colorado a sanctuary state for quality health care. It empowers Coloradans to opt out of the oppressive health insurance mandates contained within ObamaCare, because we would not be forced to participate in any health insurance plan, nor would we be penalized for paying cash for health care.

If Colorado is going to free itself from Obamacare and successfully realize its 10th Amendment rights, every freedom-loving Coloradan must take action now. The initiative must collect 120,000 petition signatures by July 10, 2010. This campaign depends completely on the efforts and resources of Coloradans like you. Take charge and commit to 3 things now:

1) Sign the petition. You must be a Colorado citizen and a registered voter.

2) Circulate the petition for signatures. Sign up at www.i2i.org.

3) Donate to the initiative campaign. Any amount helps win for freedom. It’s easy to donate online at www.i2i.org.

It’s Not Too Late – You Can Save Freedom

At this critical juncture in history, freedom is crying out and needs a tenacious defense. It’s up to you and me to take ownership of this state and preserve freedom. We can protect her if we act with determination now. Let’s flex our state’s rights granted in the Constitution and stop the ObamaCare choke in Colorado.

Time is of the essence.  Spread the word about the Colorado Right to Health Care Choice ballot initiative. Make copies of this article and hand to friends, or email a link to them.

Your personal involvement will ensure that Colorado remains a leading voice and state for freedom and against ObamaCare.  To receive the latest information in the health care battle, sign up for my health care updates online at www.Mom4Freedom.com.

Pray without ceasing and never give up. Now let’s take it back.

Obamacare: Color-Coded Maps of Senate & House Vote Results

Here are our nation’s true political colors.  The vote for Obamacare was the most devastating Congressional vote ever taken to choke freedom in the United States of America.

Check out these maps I’ve borrowed from Wikipedia (and if you read the Wikipedia summary version provisions of the bill, it’s all peaches and cream for the people… and deals with those nasty insurance companies… read the Wikipeda entry only with discernment).

See what color your state is.  And make no mistake about it… a YES vote for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ie, Obamacare) was a vote to fundamentally shift our nation away from our founding principles and kill capitalism, freedom, and individual rights.  A YES vote was a vote to choke your personal freedom and give ultimate power over your life to the federal government.  Plain and simple.

Press on for freedom.  Never, ever give up.

Outlook Startup Problem Solved

Okay, this has absolutely nothing to do with politics other than my desktop randomly stopped opening Outlook!  No email.  No calendar.  No contacts.  (Unless I wanted to live by iPhone alone!)  I was partially muzzled!  BIG TROUBLE.

So… Did some research, dug through many troubleshooting sites, and found a solution!

Problem: I couldn’t launch Outlook, it only gave me this message:  “Cannot start microsoft office outlook. cannot open the outlook window.”

Solution:  Start > Run:  Outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Found it here at Ehsanul Haque’s blog.  Thanks Ehsanul!

More Knowledge Than the Average Person

“People who are very aware that they have more knowledge than the average person are often very unaware that they do not have one-tenth of the knowledge of all of the average persons put together. In this situation, for the intelligentsia to impose their notions on ordinary people is essentially to impose ignorance on knowledge.” — Dr. Thomas Sowell
