Senator Akaka Deems the Constitution Irrelevant

US Senator Akaka (D-HI) has sworn to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States.”  (See the complete Congressional oath of office that he took here)  But he has just deemed it irrelevant as he admits he does not know if the Constitution gives Congress the authority to mandate that individuals must carry health insurance…  he admits he’s not aware, but is “trying to provide for people who have needs.”  He says that helping citizens live a good life with their health is “what they’re trying to do.”

Instead of supporting and defending the Constitution, which he took an oath to do… he is destroying and trampling it… and he is simultaneously effectuating socialism by saying he will vote to place upon you and me the moral obligation of meeting someone else’s “need.”

“from each according to their ability, to each . . . ” It’s been their plan for 80 years, they just haven’t had the combination of supermajority, divided federal courts, and compliant press to work with.

Good site. I love the focus on big principles over daily snark.
