Michelle's Mother

Here is my mother.

She is the best in the world, still.  She is always there for me, always understanding, always patient, and accepts me just as I am.  She listens, observes, and counsels wisely when asked.  She gave to 4 of us children an example of tenderness, grace, and love which nobody else could have.  She introduced to me and instilled within me my faith in Jesus Christ.  For that and much more, I am eternally grateful and blessed.  She is extraordinary.

Well gee, I could have told you that.

But Gallup’s got evidence.

An April 4-9 Gallup poll surveying Republicans and GOP-leaning Independents showed Romney has 42% support of these voters, which is “historically low for a winning candidate.”   More from Gallup’s poll analysis:

“Romney’s 42% support in the final 2012 nomination preference poll ranks among the lowest Gallup has measured for a nominee in its final poll since 1972.

Specifically, no other Republican winner in the primary era has had as little as 42% support in Gallup’s final measure of nomination preferences, with George W. Bush’s 57% in 2000 the lowest before now.

Across both parties, only George McGovern had less support among a winner in either party, being the preferred nominee of 30% of Democrats just before the 1972 Democratic convention. Jimmy Carter, who was supported by 48% of Democrats in 1980 as he sought re-election, is the only other nominee who was below 50% support in the final nomination preference poll.”  Copyright © 2012 Gallup, Inc.

Oh, yikes.

And since Mitt is “presumed” to be the nominee, and even though the hard numbers don’t finally and completely support it (see more about those numbers nobody wants you to know about right here), and without a final delegate count dated August 30th to conclude the nomination process…. those of us who support another candidate are now supposed to give up the game, walk off the field, and kowtow to support Mitt?

I don’t think so.

With approval numbers this bad, someone really needs to convince conservative Republicans and Independents that Mitt can beat Obama in November before we’ll prematurely jump on the Mitt bandwagon.  And if you’re going to try and convince us, do it with merits.  Don’t bother saying what we’ve heard over and over again, “Because Mitt’s the only one who can win!”   Give us substance.

I’ll support our GOP nominee when he or she has secured the official vote at the RNC in August.  Until then, I’m sticking with the facts and the most conservative guy who’s still in the race.  See more about the hard numbers necessary to secure the nomination here.

Quit the game before it's over???

Here is the data to which I referred when I spoke on behalf of Newt Gingrich on Saturday at the Colorado GOP State Assembly.

Here’s why the “Get in line with the Mitt masses!” rants shouldn’t yet move the GOP’s “Not-Romney” base.

In spite of what the media and left-leaning GOP types would have you believe, Mitt Romney does not have the GOP Presidential nomination wrapped up.  Remember, he has to earn 1,144 delegate votes to secure the nomination at the RNC.  The numbers and statistics don’t necessarily point to a secure Mitt nomination at this point.

Here are the real numbers and percentages Mitt needs to actually win, from RedState’s “The Numbers Are Not With Mitt” dated April 13, 2012:

“Mitt Romney must win over 60% of all remaining hard delegates to secure the GOP nomination.

19 states still need to be heard from, and of those states 869 hard delegates are available at the state and district level (discounting the 37 total delegates available between Indiana and Arkansas, which have proportionality rules only a democrat could love). State and committee GOP delegates number about 69, which I’m throwing into my calculations as a given for Romney.

Of the 11,280,792 votes cast so far, Romney has accumulated 4,595,908 or only about 41%. Typically, Romney does not garner more than an average of 44% of the vote. Santorum averaged about 25% of the vote. Even if half of Santorum’s supporters vote for Mitt, this still does not give him the necessary 60+ % to secure the GOP nomination.”

Will you believe the media or the numbers?

As I said in my speech, which I’ll be posting here later today, the media telling us the Republican Presidential nomination process is done is the same media telling us that the GOP waged a war on women, and it’s the same media that highlights the “Tea Party” as anarchist extremists while ignoring the destructive Marxist agenda of Occupy Wall Street.

And we’re going to run with their message?

The momentum is seemingly in Mitt’s favor, and yes, I’m hearing everyone who is telling me to “give it up Michelle, Mitt is it.”  However, facts are very stubborn things, and the fact is that this nomination process is not over until August in Tampa.

Based on the numbers, a brokered convention is still a real possibility.  In that event, the endgame is anybody’s guess, and other candidates can re-emerge to change everything.   I’ll unite behind our official nominee when his or her name is officially declared at the RNC in Tampa.

Who walks off the field before the end of the 4th quarter and hands victory to the presumed winner?

Not me.  As long as he’s in the race, I support Newt so the conservative movement, for which I’ve worked hard, has a real choice in this race.

Rant all you want, but the facts don’t lie.

Anything can happen.

• I innovatively linked together over 100 grassroots leaders, groups and activists across the state, providing them instant access to an online freedom coalition and communications platform.

• I have tackled ObamaCare at both national and local levels, and personally built an online presence which educates and mobilizes over 120,000 Americans in the quest to defeat ObamaCare.

• I led an information campaign and citizen-lobbyist effort against the Democrat-sponsored Health Care Exchange SB11-200, which brought ObamaCare to Colorado (unfortunately, 13 Republicans voted for it).

• I co-founded a successful local grassroots organization which continues to contribute freedom resources to the liberty movement and our community.

• I am a blogger who continues to expose the left’s sham and simultaneously builds up our founding fathers’ vision and mission.

• The Independence Institute awarded me with the 2010 Vern Bickel Grassroots Leader of the Year Award.

• Campaigns & Elections Magazine (March 2011) listed me as a Top 5 Republican Influencer in Colorado.

In short, I’ve fought a tenacious fight to stop the threat of tyranny at many levels. I will do the same at the convention.

Other than your involvement, I usually don’t like asking for anything, and I never expected to “make a run.”

Day two was fun to be part of (audio link below).  Obama’s solicitor general Donald Verrilli, Jr. took a beating by multiple conservative Justices regarding the premise behind the individual mandate.  Verrilli nervously coughed and sputtered through his defense, while liberal Justices actually posed “helpful” questions to bring him back to his original argument.  It’s a glimmer of hope and worth hearing.
